In cooperation with DBSF, a consultants firm, the bicycle path will get a second wind through this process. The path, now 68 kilometres long, meanders through the greater Québec region.
The Board of the organisation hopes to lay down efficient and original development and marketing goals so as to attract an even greater clientele.
Last year, the ten-year-old bicycle path received over 250 000 visits. The province of Québec has more than 617 000 touring cyclists who generate over 45 M$ in revenues each year.
“We are convinced that the Jacques-Cartier/Portneuf path has the potential to become an important attraction for the greater Québec area, which should significantly increase the revenues for the whole of the cultural and tourist industry in the Portneuf and Jacques-Cartier region. In the coming weeks, we will be evaluating how to improve our product in cooperation with the industry,” says the president for the organisation, Jacquelin Genois.
Two consulting meetings will be taking place in August. The first, on August 28, will bring together mostly directors and coordinators in the cultural and tourism industry. The second, on August 30, will bring together the elected leaders of the Portneuf and Jacques-Cartier MRCs. The final report should be completed by next October.
Second Wind Blowing on the Bicycle Path
After having joined the ranks of the Réseau de la Route verte and implemented its free use for cyclists, the Société de la piste Jacques-Cartier/Portneuf has now begun a strategic development process.
