Something New at the 5th Virée Country!
From August 15 to 17, the 5th Virée Country will be filled with new events, such as a harness Derby competition, a show with Paul Daraîche and acrobatic performers.
The Virée country will open with a brand-new event, the harness Derby, from 7:00 PM to 10:00 PM. “It’s a chrono event in which harnessed horses go through obstacles at high speeds, with a Ben-Hur style finale,” explains Nicole Guérard-Plamondon, President of the event.
At 8:30 PM, the accordion king Denis Côté will jump on stage, followed at by the Renegades at 9:30 PM, who will make all cowboys and cowgirls dance the evening away.
Saturday will begin with a brunch at 7:00 AM, and then two couples from Cantons-Unis de Stoneham-et-Tewkesbury will renew their wedding vows. This celebration will be followed by a parade, “the festival pride”, including among others shining trucks, motorcycles, floats, cavalrymen on foot and on horseback, and Ti-Roux the mascot.
At Place de la famille, beginning at noon, many activities will charm young and old, such as a small farm, mini-horse riding, an outdoor market, and an acrobats show from the École de cirque de Québec.
During the afternoon, there will be a horse-drawing competition, and then many artists will add their colour to the party, such as Dany and Marlène, who will host a country-dancing initiation event, as well as singer Pierre Proteau who will be leading several artists.
At 5:00 PM, guests will be invited to partake in a mechoui (15$), just before the Gymkhana competition. The highlight of the evening will certainly be Paul Daraîche’s show!
On Sunday, a country mass will launch the last day of the event. Gymkhana, Pierre Proteau’s show, country dancing and activities at Place de la famille will greet our participants. @S2:(A.D.)
